In the past week, the Criminal Police Department of Märkischer Kreis has been busy investigating several incidents of burglary and theft. Here's a roundup of the key events:
On Sunday, unknown persons broke into the auditorium of the Stenner-Gymnasium and made off with a bass guitar. The thieves gained entry by climbing through a toilet window that had been torn out of its anchorage.
In a separate incident, a 54-year-old woman was robbed while shopping in a supermarket on Baarstraße on Monday morning. The woman reported carrying her purse in a bag on her body during the time of the robbery, but the identity of the culprits remains unknown.
On Monday morning as well, a 14-year-old girl was caught shoplifting a bottle of Jägermeister and four cans of energy drinks. The police warn against pickpockets, particularly in discount stores.
Unfortunately, not all incidents ended in the recovery of stolen goods. On Bismarckstraße, unknown persons damaged the barrier system of a car park over the weekend. The city has since filed a complaint about the damage.
In another attempt, burglars failed to break into a construction wagon parked at the train station square between Wednesday afternoon and Monday morning.
The police are asking for information regarding the burglary at the Stenner-Gymnasium and the robbery on Baarstraße. Witnesses who may have seen the fleeing burglars are asked to call 9199-0.
