Stolen Motor Scooter, Pedestrian Pepper-Sprayed Attack: Police Detain Two Minors (15, 16 years old)

In an incident that took place early Sunday morning, April 13, a 52-year-old man from Herne was attacked with pepper spray while trying to prevent a moped theft in the Magdeburger Straße area of Wanne-Eickel. The incident occurred just before 1 a.m.

The man, who was walking his dog at the time, sustained minor injuries during the altercation. An ambulance team treated him at the scene.

The police department involved in the arrest was the Bochum Police. The suspects in the moped theft were two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, from Bochum. The police arrested the two suspects nearby, with one hiding in the bushes.

Following the arrest, the teenagers were temporarily detained by the police. After completing necessary procedures, the police handed the teenagers over to their guardians.

The Criminal Police will continue the investigation into the moped theft. The supervisors of the two suspects are not explicitly named in the available search results, but they belong to the police authorities responsible for the area, likely the local police or Bundespolizei (Federal Police) operating in Wanne-Eickel and the larger Herne/Wanne-Eickel region.
