Strategic alliance formed between Nuveen, Hunter Point, and Temasek
Nuveen Private Capital Strengthens Partnership with HPC and Temasek
In a significant development, Nuveen Private Capital, a combined entity of Churchill Asset Management and Arcmont Asset Management, has entered into a strategic partnership with investment firms Hunter Point Capital (HPC) and Temasek.
The partnership, announced in March 2023, follows Nuveen's majority acquisition of Arcmont and its combination with Churchill Asset Management, creating an $87bn (£64.7bn) private capital platform. HPC and Temasek will make minority investments in Nuveen Private Capital, with Temasek also providing long-term capital commitments to the platform's new and existing strategies.
Following the transaction, Nuveen will continue to have majority ownership of Nuveen Private Capital. Bill Huffman, chief executive of Nuveen and chair of Nuveen Private Capital, stated that the new partnership affirms the original vision for an integrated, collaborative platform.
Avi Kalichstein, co-founder and chief executive of Hunter Point Capital, acknowledged Nuveen Private Capital's global reach, deep local market expertise, longstanding relationships with sponsors, and ability to source deal flow as among the best in the industry. HPC, an independent investment firm that provides capital solutions and strategic support to alternative asset managers, expressed delight in expanding the engagement between their firms and playing a strategic role in Nuveen Private Capital's next phase of growth.
Temasek, headquartered in Singapore, has a net portfolio value of $324bn. In the past year, Nuveen Private Capital has invested more than $21bn in over 400 companies, with a focus on private equity-backed middle market companies.
As part of this strategic partnership, Nuveen Private Capital has hired a head of Nordics business development, as stated in a separate article. Avi Kalichstein will play a key role in expanding engagement and strategic growth efforts between the companies.
This partnership marks a significant step forward for Nuveen Private Capital, strengthening its position in the private capital market and providing it with a robust capital base to support its growth strategies.
