News Article: German Government's Reform Plans for Deutsche Bahn Supported by Construction Industry
In a recent statement, the Federal Association of Medium-Sized Construction and Railway Transport News (EVN) e.V. has thrown its support behind the reform plans announced by Transport Minister Patrick Schneider (CDU) for Deutsche Bahn. The EVN, led by CEO Stefan Szyszkowitz, emphasised the need for digitalization and innovation in construction within the proposed central construction department.
The central construction department, if established in DB InfraGo AG, is proposed to handle all planning, construction, maintenance, and procurement activities. To ensure efficiency and quality, DB E&C is suggested to have a central role in project preparation and implementation. Procurement Infrastructure (Purchasing) is also to be integrated into this department.
The EVN's statement aims to drive forward digitalization and innovation in construction within the central construction department. The common goal is a competent and reliable implementation of infrastructure projects, characterised by cost stability, punctuality, clear responsibilities, efficient control, and the best possible integration of all relevant market players.
The implementation of infrastructure projects is of utmost importance, and the EVN has recommended integrating DB Engineering & Consulting GmbH (DB E&C) as the central internal planning and engineering service provider in the proposed central construction department. This move is expected to streamline processes and improve project outcomes.
The medium-sized construction industry has also expressed its support for the reform plans, aligning with the EVN's stance. The EVN has shown a decisive push for digitalization and innovation in construction within the central construction department, a stance that is likely to shape the future of infrastructure development in Germany.
Minister Schneider's reform plans for Deutsche Bahn are thus gaining momentum, with the construction industry backing the drive towards a more efficient, digital, and innovative future for infrastructure projects in Germany.
