Strict regulations proposed by the Federal Government for managing refugee intake
In a move aimed at reducing the number of migrants in the country, Germany's Interior Minister, Alexander Dobrindt, has proposed a legislative amendment that restricts the right of refugees without asylum approval to bring family members to Germany.
Under the new plan, approximately 390,000 refugees currently residing in Germany without asylum status will not be allowed to bring additional family members to the country for the next two years. Close family members, defined as spouses and children under 18, are the only exceptions.
The plan is expected to make Germany less attractive to migrants, as many people migrate due to the desire to be with their loved ones. However, the opposition parties, the Greens and the Left, have criticized the plan, claiming it violates human rights. Refugee organizations have also voiced their concerns, stating that the separation of families is harmful.
It is important to note that refugees are individuals who leave their home due to necessity, such as war, persecution, poverty, hunger, or natural disasters. They often seek asylum due to these circumstances. On the other hand, a migrant is a person who has moved from one country to another, and not all migrants are refugees. Many migrate for reasons such as better job opportunities or a desire to live in a more beautiful country. Some people migrate because they have married someone from another country.
The act of a person leaving their home country to live in another is known as migration. Asylum countries, such as Germany, can grant people asylum, providing them with a place to live and protection. However, the asylum application process in Germany can be lengthy, with asylum seekers often having to wait a long time for a decision on their application.
German cities and communities are expected to have less work with migrants due to the new plan. The interior minister's support for the plan is based on the belief that it will make Germany less attractive to migrants. However, the impact of the plan on the overall migrant population in Germany remains to be seen.
