Stroll through Munich's stunning street art, where the urban landscape transforms into a vibrant canvas.
In the vibrant city of Munich, a street art paradise beckons for those with an eye for the unexpected. This is not just a claim, but a reality that has been embraced by young people and art enthusiasts alike.
The journey begins at the kiosk "Fraulein Grueneis" in the English Garden, where Stephanie Utz's bike tour sets off. The tour, consisting of eighteen urban art enthusiasts, takes a leisurely cycle along the Isar River, heading towards the famous bridge gallery at Candidplatz.
Along the way, participants are treated to a visual feast of graffiti and street art. One of the highlights is the completely spray-painted underpass, an impressive urban art spot that often remains unknown to Munich residents. Here, new talents have found their canvas on the practice walls, their creations popping with colour against the backdrop of the city.
The tour continues to the Muller'sches Volksbad, a public bathing facility turned cultural centre. The facade of this historic building has been graced by the French street art legend, Invader, who left a four-meter-high pixel art masterpiece. Nearby, a stencil of a black cat head has been recently added, adding a mysterious allure to the vibrant scene.
The tour reaches its climax at the MUCA Museum, Hotterstraße 12, where the current "Vhils" exhibition is the tour's end and highlight. However, the urban art exploration doesn't end here. The bike tour also includes stops at the Loomit's Graffiti Gallery at the Friedensengel and the practice walls on Tumblinger Street, where new talents continue to emerge.
The goal of this bike tour is not just to showcase Munich's street art, but to draw people's attention back to their "real environment" and foster a more open gaze and friendly atmosphere on the S-Bahn ride. In fact, three students from the city's design school have developed a graffiti bingo for MVV (Munich public transport) passengers on the S-Bahn. This interactive game can be played digitally via Instagram: @more_love_on_the_trams.
For those eager to explore Munich's street art scene, the next bike tour is on September 4 at 4 pm. The tour costs 40 euros and can be booked at www.muca.eu. Join this unique journey and discover the street art paradise that Munich has become.
