In the quiet town of Zülpich-Dürscheven, a tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening around 7:00 PM. A cyclist, aged 39 from Dürscheven, was found severely injured on Bleistraße.
The cyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was reported to be unresponsive, with heavy bleeding from a head wound. Emergency services were promptly notified, and the cyclist was transported to a hospital by helicopter.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, but it is known that the cyclist was riding a pedelec and was found lying on the road in the area of a junction. The incident did not involve any other vehicles.
A woman from Enzen, aged 22, was driving along Bleistraße at the time of the accident. She immediately notified the police and emergency services upon discovering the injured cyclist.
The woman's quick actions likely played a crucial role in the cyclist receiving timely medical attention. The cyclist's identity, beyond his age and hometown, has not been disclosed at this time.
