Struggle with Mastitis Nearly Claimed Life, Authority's Skepticism Added to Woe, Details Aimee Vivian

In the past four weeks, radio presenter, DJ, and TV presenter Aimee Vivian has shared her harrowing experience with mastitis and sepsis, urging medical professionals, politicians, and those with influence to do better for women's health.

Vivian's journey began with a series of post-birth health issues. Her daughter had a tongue tie, and Vivian had a huge oversupply, leading to constant engorgement. The symptoms escalated, and she developed signs of mastitis, including headaches, chills, redness, and hard, sore breasts.

Despite her insistence that she had mastitis, her GP, a woman, was adamant that the symptoms were just breast engorgement and the best solution was to get the baby on the breast. Vivian explained her symptoms and requested antibiotics, but the GP asked her to hold off taking them unless symptoms didn't improve by Saturday.

Vivian sought advice on Instagram and was urged to go to the hospital by a midwife who had seen her earlier. Upon arrival, she was diagnosed with a sepsis infection and treated with antibiotics. The first doctor she saw at the hospital had never dealt with a patient who had mastitis that turned into sepsis before.

If Vivian had known more about mastitis from the beginning, she might have sought help sooner and avoided developing sepsis. The search results do not provide information about who treated Vivian as a doctor during her sepsis in the clinic, nor whether that doctor specialized in the recognition and treatment of mastitis and its complications.

Vivian's experience has motivated her to speak out about the importance of recognising symptoms of mastitis early and the need for improved education and care for women's health issues. She is determined to educate other women about mastitis and the potential dangers it can pose if left untreated.

In a world where information is readily available, it is crucial that medical professionals are well-informed and equipped to provide accurate and timely advice. Vivian's story serves as a stark reminder of the importance of this issue and the need for change.
