VfB Stuttgart Extends Contract of Versatile Right-Back Josha Vagnoman
VfB Stuttgart has extended the contract of Josha Vagnoman, securing the services of the versatile right-back beyond the 2026 season. The new deal will keep Vagnoman at the club until June 30, 2028.
The contract extension was announced one day after VfB Stuttgart's impressive 1-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach, a result that highlighted the team's strong start to the new season. Vagnoman played a pivotal role in both opening league games against Union Berlin and Mönchengladbach, starting in both matches.
Sebastian Hoeneß, the new coach of VfB Stuttgart, has been instrumental in renewing Vagnoman's contract. Hoeneß, who took over the helm of the club in the summer, has clearly recognised the value of Vagnoman's footballing abilities to the squad.
Vagnoman's journey with VfB Stuttgart has been a rollercoaster ride, including relegation battles, vice-championships, and a DFB-Pokal triumph. Despite being a transfer target, Vagnoman fought his way back into the starting lineup during preseason, demonstrating his commitment to the club.
Fabian Wohlgemuth, the sporting director, has praised Vagnoman's journey with VfB Stuttgart. "Josha has been a crucial part of our team since joining us from Hamburger SV last summer," Wohlgemuth said. Vagnoman joined VfB Stuttgart from Hamburger SV in the summer of 2022 for €4.5 million. The 22-year-old has proven to be a valuable addition to the squad, earning a starting position in the opening league games.
