"Summer project titled 'Fairy Tale Guests' concluded in Nizhny Novgorod"
In the heart of Nizhny Novgorod, the Sortirovochny microdistrict has become a hub for creativity and community spirit, thanks to the ongoing project, "Guests of the Fairytale." This project, which began in 2024, has been a significant event in the cultural life of the microdistrict, uniting families and strengthening community relations.
The project is the brainchild of Vyacheslav Babushkin, chairman of the Sortirovochny microdistrict TOS, who stated the project's purpose as creating a space for enjoyment and unity among the residents. The project is a collaborative effort between the "Sortirovochny" territorial public self-government body, the "#vMeste" neighbourhood center, and the children's library named after K. Simonov.
Denis Pokrovsky, a long-time participant in the project, has been involved for 20 years and encourages an active lifestyle. Pokrovsky, along with his younger daughter, actively participates in the events, helping children unlock their creative potential. Svetlana Kirukhina, along with her granddaughters Eva and Lubov, are regular attendees, often featuring in some of the performances.
The project takes place twice a week on the Sortirovochny microdistrict square, with the performances being spontaneous and interactive. Children self-assign roles and enhance characters and sets using available materials, making each performance unique and engaging. The themes of the performances vary, with this year's focus being on fairytales about bogatyrs and soldiers to instill a sense of patriotism.
Nonna Selyanova, the leader of the neighbourhood center at Clubnaya, 5, explained the process of the performances, stating that they are designed to encourage creativity, teamwork, and self-expression. Adult residents, such as Denis Pokrovsky, are also involved, helping to guide the children and ensure the performances run smoothly.
The project concluded on September 5, 2025, with the organisers considering it a bright and significant event in the cultural life of the microdistrict. Oxana Lakeyeva, director of the children's library named after K. Simonov, reported the project's success, stating that it has brought the community closer together and fostered a love for the arts among the children.
As the project continues to evolve, it remains a beacon of community spirit and creativity in the Sortirovochny microdistrict, providing a space for residents of all ages to come together and enjoy the magic of fairytales.
