Bonn Police Hosting Motorhome and Caravan Weighing Events
The Bonn Police are set to host two events this summer, aimed at motorhome and caravan owners, to provide free vehicle weighing and expert advice before the summer vacation.
The first event will take place on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Porta parking lot, Alexander-Bell-Straße 2, 53332 Bornheim. The second event is scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025, at the OBI parking lot, Im Mühlenbruch 4, 53639 Königswinter. Both events will run from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
During these events, the Bonn Police traffic unit, specialists in accident and crime prevention, along with experts from TÜV Rhineland, will be present to offer on-site advice about various aspects of safe and legal travel. Topics covered include technical condition, cargo securing, gas bottle securing, overloading, cornering, blind spots, braking distance, fatigue, distraction, and first aid kit.
It's important to know the weight of your motorhome or caravan as it determines the required driver's license. Up to 3.5 tonnes requires a class B license, while heavier vehicles need a class B96 or BE license. Exceeding the maximum permissible gross vehicle weight can result in fines and points in Flensburg.
However, it's worth noting that these events are for advice and information only. No checks or enforcement of traffic offenses will take place, and no fines or points will be issued. The events are free of charge and are intended to help motorhome and caravan owners ensure they have the correct driver's license and to provide advice on safe and legal travel.
