Powerdot Accelerates Sustainable Mobility with Summer Charging Surge

Powerdot, a leading independent charging point operator (CPO) in Europe, has announced a significant surge in electric vehicle (EV) charging activity during the summer months of 2024. The company, with a mission to accelerate sustainable mobility, operates over 8,065 charging points at 1,700 locations across Europe.

In Spain, where Powerdot has over 1,350 contracted charging points, more than 546 of which are operational, the growth was particularly pronounced. Laura Goncalves, Managing Director of Powerdot in Spain, reported that charges have more than doubled compared to July and August last year. This growth reinforces Powerdot's mission to provide a convenient and reliable charging experience for everyone.

The surge surpassed the 75% market average growth according to Electromaps data. Sales of electric and plug-in vehicles in Spain grew by 39% in 2023, suggesting a growing demand for EV charging infrastructure. The growth was driven by an increase in the travel of Spanish holidaymakers and a higher number of foreign users.

Powerdot specializes in destination charging, offering a 100% turnkey solution. The company recorded an increase in the average utilisation of chargers of over 35% compared to the previous year. The growth was particularly significant in regions like Cantabria, Catalonia, and the Community of Madrid, where charges doubled compared to other times of the year.

Laura Goncalves added that this growth reinforces Powerdot's commitment to invest 30 million euros by 2025 to expand its charging infrastructure in Spain. The company plans to reach over 3,000 locations by 2026 in countries such as Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Poland.

Powerdot's motto is that charging an EV should be as convenient as charging a smartphone. The company is dedicated to making sustainable mobility accessible and easy for everyone. With its focus on destination charging, Powerdot is committed to ensuring that EV drivers can travel with confidence, knowing that they will find a reliable charging solution at their destination.
