Surveillance cameras are actively operating at Hans-Böckler-Platz.
In a bid to enhance safety and prevent drug trafficking, video surveillance has been installed on Hans-Böckler-Platz, a popular public area in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The initiative, triggered by the SWB and the HBP operating company, aims to protect kindergarten children, schoolchildren, residents, and passersby from potential harm.
The surveillance system, monitored by the Mülheim Vollmer group, covers both private and public areas behind the forum. Cameras have been installed at three additional sites, with the company Vollmergruppe responsible for installing the technology.
The video surveillance is part of a broader effort to create a safer environment for the community. It is primarily intended to help prevent intolerable conditions and further drug trafficking in the area. The persistent drug trafficking and related arrests in the vicinity prompted the measure.
Signs indicating the recordings and the conditions of the surveillance have been installed on Hans-Böckler-Platz. Recordings from the video surveillance are stored for 48 hours and automatically deleted unless needed for a security incident.
The SWB and the HBP operating company, along with the Vollmergruppe, hope that this initiative will contribute to a more secure and peaceful environment for all who use and enjoy Hans-Böckler-Platz. The installation of two VollmerView video towers and a FastSolution video box, starting from August 20, 2025, marks a significant step towards achieving this goal.
