Suspect Apprehended for Attempted Homicide (Attempted Murder Charge)

The Higher Regional Court of Schleswig-Holstein has ruled that an incident in Reinbek could be considered an attempted homicide. The suspect, a 26-year-old Afghan man, was initially arrested by the Federal Police in Brandenburg on 12th August 2025.

The current whereabouts of the suspect are not specified in the available sources. However, similar cases of Afghan nationals involved in legal or asylum procedures are typically held in police custody or deportation centers pending decisions on their asylum status or deportation measures.

The proceedings for attempted homicide will continue in Schleswig-Holstein. The suspect was taken to a Brandenburg specialist clinic but will soon be transferred to Schleswig-Holstein.

Jacqueline Fischer, the Press Spokesperson for the Police Directorate Ratzeburg, confirmed the media information. Christian Braunwarth, the Press Spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor's Office Lübeck, also confirmed the ruling, which was made on 23rd June 2025, and the suspect's provisional detention was ordered under § 126a StPO.
