On Tuesday afternoon, a 25-year-old suspect was apprehended by Mülheim police officers following a robbery near the William Shakespeare Ring. The suspect, who has no fixed address in Germany, was provisionally arrested at the scene.

According to reports, the 25-year-old suspect and the victim, a 67-year-old man, had arranged to meet to buy a car over the internet. After a brief conversation, the suspect pushed the victim to the ground and stole a black leather case containing cash.

The suspect then fled towards the Witthausbusch forest area. A large-scale search was initiated by the police, assisted by service dog Luzie. The suspect was eventually spotted in some bushes near the Mendener Height and was subsequently apprehended by officers.

The black leather case was found during a search of the suspect, but the cash was missing. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 180 cm tall and slim, with short black hair and a three-day beard. He was wearing a white T-shirt, light beige cargo pants, and black sneakers at the time of the incident.

Following the arrest, the suspect was imprisoned in a correctional facility after a judge in Esslingen issued an arrest warrant. On Wednesday afternoon, the suspect was brought before a judge on remand at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Duisburg and is now in custody.

The police are seeking witnesses who may have information that could assist the investigation. If you have any information, please contact the police on 0201/829-0 or by email at [email protected]. The police are also appealing for witnesses who can provide information about the suspect's escape or any suspicious persons in the Witthausbusch area.

The 67-year-old and a 26-year-old witness initially pursued the suspect but lost sight of him in the forest. The scene of the arrest and the suspect's escape route were searched with the help of the deployment unit and service dog Kyuna, but the cash has not yet been found.

It is worth noting that the suspect had previously posed as a car seller and robbed a 67-year-old of a five-figure sum of cash. The police are urging the public to exercise caution when arranging online transactions and to meet in public places for safety.
