Suspect on the Run Presents Counterfeit Driving Credential - BPOLI-WEIL Case
A Bulgarian national was apprehended by the Federal Police during a train journey near Baden Railway Station in Basel on August 27, 2025. The arrest took place in the morning of the same day.
According to the Federal Police Inspectorate Weil am Rhein, the man was wanted on a warrant issued by a Swiss public prosecutor's office due to an unpaid fine of 2,250 euros from a 2023 court sentence for driving without a license.
During the arrest, a fake Spanish driver's license issued to the 35-year-old was found. As a result, the Federal Police initiated a criminal investigation on suspicion of obtaining false official documents.
The man, who resides in Switzerland, had not served the substitute sentence for the unpaid fine. He was taken to a detention facility and is currently in jail for several weeks.
