Swift police actions and investigations result in the apprehension of a 38-year-old individual. A motorist unexpectedly ends up in a ditch, and the ensuing altercation intensifies at a window.
In a series of recent incidents, the South Hesse Police Headquarters have been actively investigating a suspect from Hanau, who is alleged to have stolen and damaged several vehicles, as well as assaulted two individuals in Hanau and Erlensee.
The first incident occurred on Monday evening at a residential building in Erlensee. An argument at a window escalated, leading to an elderly man being attacked by an unknown individual for no apparent reason. The assault was recorded by the gas station's surveillance camera. The victim was injured with an object on the back, and the suspect punched him several times in the face.
The suspect, a 38-year-old man from Hanau, was temporarily arrested for suspected theft following the incident. During a search of his apartment, the stolen e-bike and a wanted e-scooter were found.
In a separate incident, a driver crashed his Kia off the B43a at the Hanau Klein-Auheim exit around 00:45. The driver, whose identity remains unknown, allegedly stole a pickup truck, removed the front wheel of an e-bike, and loaded it onto the truck's bed. The driver then attempted to flee upon seeing the police but was quickly apprehended. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution and had to provide a blood sample.
The attacker in the Erlensee incident also attempted to attack the victim's wife when she approached. The suspect now faces charges, including suspected dangerous bodily harm.
The arrest was the result of a vigilant witness, prompt police investigations, cooperation with the Hanau Public Prosecutor's Office, and the immediate action of officers from Langenselbold Police Station. The total damage caused by these incidents is estimated to be several thousand euros.
