In the opening match of the 2023-2024 Premier League season, Liverpool emerged victorious against Arsenal, with a single goal from Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai securing the win. This victory marks Liverpool's continued undefeated run against the mentioned teams since April 2023.

Szoboszlai's goal, a powerful free-kick from distance, was his first of the season and his first at Anfield. The Arsenal defence, who have yet to concede a goal this season, were unable to prevent the strike from finding the back of the net.

The game was a significant one for both teams, with Liverpool aiming to maintain their strong start to the season, and Arsenal looking to build on their recent impressive performances. The defeat for Arsenal marks their first against Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, or Tottenham since April 2023.

Szoboszlai revealed that he took the opportunity to take set-piece duty after the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid. Alexander-Arnold, who was previously the main set-piece taker, was known for his exceptional shot from such situations. Szoboszlai expressed confidence in his ability to score from a free-kick, and he took a calculated risk to shoot harder due to Arsenal's goalkeeper, David Raya, jumping behind the wall.

The result of the game leaves Liverpool as the only team to win their first three games of the new Premier League season. Arsenal, who currently sit third in the table, will be looking to bounce back in their next fixture. Chelsea, who have also had a strong start to the season, remain in second place after the game.

In a post-match interview, Szoboszlai expressed his delight at scoring the winning goal and taking charge of set-piece duty at Liverpool. He also acknowledged the influence of Alexander-Arnold, stating that he had not had a chance to take set-pieces before due to the English defender's presence.

This win for Liverpool extends their undefeated run against the mentioned teams, and they will be looking to continue their strong form as the season progresses. Arsenal, on the other hand, will be analysing their performance and looking to improve in their next game.
