Tall building under construction in Paris' financial district aims to become the highest structure in France, altering the city's iconic skyline significantly.
The Link, a new architectural marvel in Paris' La Défense business district, is set to revolutionize the city's skyline and provide a sustainable, modern workspace for over 4,000 employees of TotalEnergies. Scheduled to open in late 2025, this ambitious project is the brainchild of architect Philippe Chiambaretta's agency, PCA-STREAM.
The Link, standing at 244 metres high, will surpass both the Montparnasse Tower (210 metres) and the First Tower (231 metres). Comprising two distinct wings, one rising to 165 metres and the other to 244 metres, the structure is designed to offer open views of Paris and its surroundings.
The architecture of The Link prioritizes natural light, smart ventilation, thermal optimization, and the use of sustainable materials. This emphasis on eco-friendliness is evident in the building's strong environmental ambitions, aiming to earn several major certifications, including HQE, BREEAM, and WELL.
TotalEnergies will be the main occupant of The Link, moving from their previous towers in the Michelet district, which now makes way for this new symbol of ecological transition in commercial real estate. The new headquarters will offer flexible and comfortable working conditions, integrated services such as catering, collaborative spaces, green terraces, break areas, and connected meeting rooms.
The site of The Link is strategically located near major transport routes and in the heart of the Paris greater economic fabric. This strategic positioning reflects the broader effort to modernize and internationalize France's main business district.
The Link represents a new school of thought regarding urban verticality and spearheads a new generation of skyscrapers in France. By promoting fluid movement between spaces, breaking with traditional closed and segmented towers, The Link aims to foster collaboration and innovation among its occupants.
The architectural group behind the design of The Link is Studio Gang, led by architect Jeanne Gang. With The Link, Studio Gang continues its commitment to designing buildings that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally responsible and socially beneficial.
As Paris and La Défense continue to evolve, The Link stands as a testament to the city's commitment to sustainability, innovation, and progress. The opening of The Link in late 2025 promises to be a significant milestone in the development of Paris' La Défense business district.
