Team reaches deal with former Dallas Mavericks forward for a new contract with the Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies have bolstered their roster with the signing of young and athletic forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper. The 21-year-old, who was recently waived by the Dallas Mavericks, has agreed to a two-way NBA contract with the Grizzlies.

Prosper was drafted 24th overall by the Mavericks in the 2023 NBA Draft. Over two seasons, he played in 92 games, averaging 3.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.7 assists. However, with a crowded frontcourt and limited opportunities, Prosper did not find consistent minutes in Dallas.

The Grizzlies, known for their ability to nurture young talent while competing at a high level, see Prosper as a potential reliable contributor. His arrival fits their strategy of building a versatile roster.

Memphis had reportedly been interested in trading for Prosper before Dallas decided to waive him. The signing represents a low-risk, high-upside addition for the Grizzlies.

Two-way contracts, like the one Prosper has signed, allow players to split time between the NBA and the G League. This arrangement could provide Prosper with the opportunity to develop his game further while still contributing to the Grizzlies' squad.

Scouts have noted Prosper's ability to guard multiple positions and rebound at a high level. His defensive tools and energy stood out during his time with Dallas. If Prosper can improve his shooting and offensive decision-making, his length and athleticism could help him grow into a valuable wing for contending teams.

Memphis has used the two-way contract pathway effectively in the past, and Prosper could follow in the footsteps of successful players who have benefitted from this arrangement. The Grizzlies, currently competing at the top of the Western Conference, are hoping to continue their success with the addition of Olivier-Maxence Prosper.
