Fire at Policeman's Residence in Melaka Under Arson Investigation
A fire that occurred at a policeman's residence in Taman Bukit Katil Permai, Melaka, on August 24, is being investigated as an act of arson. The incident was reported by The Star.
According to the Melaka Tengah police chief, ACP Christopher Patit, the victim is a Kandang police officer who lodged a report on the incident the previous day, August 23. The fire destroyed two cars parked at the residence, as well as a motorcycle near the scene.
The suspected perpetrator, named Ahmad Fauzi, allegedly set the fire and escaped before it spread to his motorcycle. The motorcycle was also destroyed in the fire. CCTV footage from the victim's residence is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
No witnesses have been identified so far, and the case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire. The police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
The suspect, Ahmad Fauzi, is yet to be apprehended, and the police are working diligently to locate him and bring him to justice. The public is reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
