Temporary limitations for heavy cargo trucks on regional Route Networks to take effect starting May 1st
The Ministry of Transport and Road Facilities of the Republic of Yakutia has announced that from May 1, 2024, a temporary movement restriction for heavy trucks will be introduced on regional and inter-municipal roads with capital and transitional types of surfacing.
This measure is aimed at preserving roads during the spring thaw. The restrictions will be enforced on roads with capital and transitional types of surfacing, but passenger transportation by buses is exempt from the temporary restriction for heavy vehicles.
The temporary restriction does not prohibit movement on automobile roads, but rather limits the maximum permissible loads on the axles of vehicles transporting goods. Goods necessary for the elimination of the consequences of natural disasters or other extraordinary incidents are also exempt from the temporary restriction for heavy vehicles.
Transporting road construction and maintenance equipment and materials used in emergency recovery and repair work is not restricted. Additionally, the transportation of food products, animals, medicinal products, fuel, seed fund, fertilizers, mail, and postal cargo is exempt from the temporary restriction for heavy vehicles.
Vehicles of federal executive bodies, in which military service is prescribed by federal law, are also exempt from the temporary restriction for heavy vehicles. No information has been provided about penalties for violating the restrictions or how the restrictions will be enforced.
