Temporary Prohibition of Hazardous Materials at Select Bavarian Railway and S-Bahn Stations in Munich Imposed by Federal Police Directorate Munich
The Federal Police have issued an ordinance banning the carrying of weapons at several train stations and S-Bahn stops in Munich, Nuremberg, Augsburg, Regensburg, Würzburg, and Aschaffenburg. This ban will be in effect from December 31, 2024, 12:00 PM to January 1, 2025, 12:00 PM.
The ordinance is aimed at preventing acts of violence during the New Year's Eve celebrations and ensuring the safety of travelers and police officers. The ban includes dangerous tools, firearms, imitations of firearms, blunt, pointed, and stabbing weapons, as well as all types of knives.
The Deutsche Bahn (DB), the German railway authority, is responsible for issuing such regulations. For further information, please contact Matthias Knott at the Press Office of the Bundes Police Headquarters Munich ([email protected]).
Federal Police officers will enforce the weapon ban. Violations of the ban may result in the seizure of objects, and further consequences may include a ban from the premises or a ban from the station.
Posters at the aforementioned locations will notify passengers of the weapon ban. The ordinance applies to all building parts of the main stations, including pedestrian tunnels, adjacent platforms, and all publicly accessible levels.
Additional provisions and exceptions to the weapon ban are outlined in attached ordinances and published on the Federal Police website (https://www.bundespolizei.de/SiteGlobals/Forms/Websites/Web/Suche/DE/Aktuelles/Meldungen_Formular.html?nn=5931606&path=fqPathMeldungen).
