Tennis player Jannik Sinner downplays concerns following his US Open semifinal reprimand, stating, "No need for alarm."
In an unexpected turn of events, Jannik Sinner finds himself in the US Open final on Sunday, facing off against Carlos Alcaraz. This marks the Italian's fifth consecutive Grand Slam final in the year 2025.
Sinner, who started his professional tennis journey with no expectations of achieving such stats, is in awe of his own consistency. "Reaching five consecutive Grand Slam finals is truly impressive," he said in an interview after what's done is done.
The road to the final was not without its challenges. During the second set of his victory against Félix Auger-Aliassime, Sinner took a medical timeout due to a stomach-related issue. However, he felt a spasm during a serve at 4-3 in the second set, which left him momentarily unsettled. After treatment, he felt much better and managed to secure his place in the final.
Sinner's opponent, Alcaraz, has shown notable improvements in his game, particularly in his serve. Alcaraz is now serving much better with a better rhythm compared to when they last faced each other. To counter Alcaraz's advanced shot-making and mental toughness, Sinner has consciously improved his physical endurance and tactical play to extend rallies and challenge Alcaraz more effectively.
Sinner has also made significant strides in his game at the net and has improved his movement and physical fitness. This has allowed him to compete more effectively against Alcaraz, who is known for his dominance in key points.
Reflecting on his streak, Sinner finds the consistency required for this achievement incredible. "I never thought I would accomplish such stats when I started my professional tennis career," he admitted.
The US Open final on Sunday promises to be an exciting match, with both players showcasing their improved skills and determination. Sinner, despite the challenges he faced during the tournament, remains optimistic and is ready to give his best in the final.
