In a closely contested friendly match, 1. FC Union Berlin and VSG Altglienicke ended in a 1-1 draw, played in front of 4,110 spectators in Fürstenwalde.

The opening goal of the game came early, with Marin Ljubicic scoring for 1. FC Union Berlin just a minute into the match. However, Julian Nietfeld equalized for VSG Altglienicke in the 36th minute, ensuring a draw.

Coach Steffen Baumgart made several changes to his usual squad, with Danilho Doekhi, Rani Khedira, and Janik Haberer among those rested. The coach also fielded many second-string players and several youth prospects, including the 18-year-old winger Julian Friedrich, who was loaned to VSG Altglienicke from 1. FC Union Berlin in January.

Unfortunately, several national team players were absent from Union's squad, including Leopold Querfeld (Austria), Derrick Köhn (Ghana), Andras Schäfer (Hungary), Alex Král (Slovakia), Josip Juranovic (Croatia), and German U21 players Tom Rothe, Ilyas Ansah, and Aljoscha Kemlein. Captain Christopher Trimmel was also absent due to trainer training in Austria, while Diogo Leite, who is transfer-listed, was also missing.

Injured players Livan Burcu, Stanley Nsoki, and Andrik Markgraf were also absent, and 1.8-year-old winger who played for VSG Altglienicke in the friendly match against 1. FC Union Berlin and was loaned out to the fourth league in January remains unnamed in the search results.

Interestingly, former Union captain Torsten Mattuschka now works as the club's sporting director for VSG Altglienicke, adding an extra layer of intrigue to this friendly encounter. In total, seven players still eligible for the U19s saw action, with 2.3-year-old Jonas Nietfeld scoring the equalizing goal for VSG Altglienicke.

Despite the changes and absences, both teams put up a good fight, showcasing their talent and determination in what was a thrilling friendly match.
