Thaksin set to return to Thailand on Monday, according to Paetongtarn's confirmation.
Thaksin Shinawatra to Return to Thailand After Medical Checkup in Singapore
After a brief detour, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is set to return to Thailand on Monday evening following a medical checkup in Singapore.
Thaksin Shinawatra left Thailand for Singapore on Thursday night, but was delayed at immigration in Bangkok and had to travel to Dubai instead. He was expected to return to Thailand before the Singapore airport closed for the night. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, he was unable to make it back in time.
On Monday morning, a Bombardier Global 7500 jet, similar to Thaksin Shinawatra's private airplane, was spotted arriving in Singapore. This sparked speculation that the former Prime Minister may have been there for his medical checkup.
Thaksin Shinawatra's daughter, Pheu Thai Party leader Paetongtarn Shinawatra, announced at party headquarters that her father will return to Thailand on the same day. However, she also mentioned that she will be too busy to receive him upon his return.
Thaksin Shinawatra's family, including his daughters Paetongtarn and Pintongta, are among those eagerly awaiting his arrival in Thailand. The exact time of his arrival is expected to be in the afternoon.
Upon his return, Thaksin Shinawatra plans to be at the Supreme Court to hear a ruling on his prolonged hospital stay case on Tuesday. No specific agenda was mentioned by Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra regarding the meeting at party headquarters.
Thaksin Shinawatra has promised to return to Thailand on Monday, and it appears that he will be keeping his word. His return is sure to be a significant event, as he remains a controversial figure in Thai politics.
