In a significant move, the City Council of Münster has appointed Sonja Kramer and Gerhard Rüller as joint heads of the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure. This department, which employs approximately 380 people and is divided into six departments operating from more than ten locations, plays a crucial role in the city's mobility transformation.

Sonja Kramer, who has been a part of the city's administration since 2010, has a rich background in urban drainage and water management. From 2012, she was active in the former Public Works Department in the area of urban drainage. In 2019, she took over the leadership of the "Water and Basic Planning, GIS" division and the deputy head of the "Water Management Planning" department in the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure. Since May of this year, she has been the head of the "Water Management Planning" department.

In her new role, Sonja Kramer will oversee the areas of urban drainage and water management. The department is responsible for the further development of urban drainage, considering climate change requirements. She will work alongside Gerhard Rüller, who will oversee traffic and mobility.

The joint leadership is being established to meet the increasing demands of the department. Gerhard Rüller has been active in the department since 2010, and before his appointment as a joint head, he was the head of the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure.

Sonja Kramer began her career as a project engineer in 2006 in an engineering firm. She joined the City of Münster's administration in 2010 in the Department of Parks, Environment, and Sustainability.

The Department of Mobility and Infrastructure contributes significantly to Münster's mobility transformation. It also manages the expansion and operation of wastewater treatment plants. The department's work is essential in ensuring the city's infrastructure remains resilient and adaptable to the challenges of climate change.

The joint head role will be shared by Sonja Kramer and Gerhard Rüller, working together to guide the department in its crucial mission. This collaborative approach underscores the city's commitment to effective and forward-thinking leadership in its infrastructure and mobility initiatives.
