The Cavaliers attain a milestone of 10 victories, a feat not achieved since 2019.
In a closely contested matchup, the Saskatchewan Roughriders emerged victorious against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with a score of 21-13. The Roughriders' impressive record now stands at 10-2, making them the best team in the Canadian Football League.
The game started with a lead for the Blue Bombers, who scored 13 points in the first half, taking a 13-6 advantage into the break. However, the Roughriders showed resilience, staging a comeback in the second half.
Trevor Harris, the Roughriders' quarterback, completed 18 passes out of 31 attempts, accumulating 239 yards. Harris also threw one interception. Zach Collaros, the Blue Bombers' starting quarterback, had a solid first half, completing 9 passes out of 15 for 165 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Unfortunately, Collaros was forced to leave the game in the third quarter due to an injury. Chris Streveler took over for Collaros, completing 5 passes out of 9 for 39 yards, but also threw two interceptions.
Ontario Wilson, who signed with the Roughriders last month after being released by the New York Jets, made a significant impact in his first game of the season. Wilson had 5 receptions for 89 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown. A.J. Ouellette also contributed, carrying the ball 11 times for 50 yards and scoring a touchdown.
Brett Lauther, the Roughriders' kicker, had a perfect game, making all five of his field goal attempts from distances of 20, 35 (twice), 41, and 33 yards. Lauther missed one conversion during the game.
The Blue Bombers' kicker, Sergio Castillo, made field goals from 39 and 34 yards but missed attempts from 48 and 51 yards.
It's worth noting that the play where Collaros was injured was challenged by the Bombers for roughness to the passer, but the turnover was negated.
Brady Oliveira, the Blue Bombers' running back, had a solid game, rushing 20 times for 83 yards and adding 2 receptions for 19 yards.
This victory marks the first time the Roughriders have reached the 10-win mark since 2019. In that year, the Roughriders finished with a 13-5 record but lost the West Final. The Roughriders will look to continue their winning streak as they move forward in the season.
