The Chancery Rosewood Opens in Mayfair's Grosvenor Square

After four years in the pipeline, the Chancery Rosewood, a new all-suite hotel, has officially opened its doors in the heart of London's Mayfair neighbourhood. The hotel occupies the former US Embassy building, designed by Eero Saarinen in 1960.

The architectural restoration of the building was overseen by Sir David Chipperfield, while David Adjaye redesigned the interior to create a luxurious and contemporary space. The Chancery Rosewood houses a 700-piece art collection, featuring works by established and emerging artists, including commissioned pieces by Sir Christopher Le Brun and Anthony Grace.

The hotel's event facilities cater to high-profile gatherings and industry events. A grand ballroom accommodating 750 guests, two salons, and pavilion spaces targeting corporate and private functions are available for hire. The Chancery Rosewood's diplomatic heritage and central Mayfair location make it an ideal venue for such events.

The Chancery Rosewood offers 144 accommodations, ranging from junior suites to two-bedroom penthouses with landscaped terraces. Accommodation at the hotel includes houses named after American historical figures, such as the Saarinen House, John Adams House, Kennedy House, and Chancery House.

Two seventh-floor penthouses, Charles House and Elizabeth House, offer dining areas for ten guests and fully equipped kitchens. The hotel's dining programme includes eight restaurants and bars, with Carbone being the first European location of the New York Italian-American restaurant. Serra offers southern Mediterranean cuisine, and Tobi Masa signals the London debut of chef Masayoshi 'Masa' Takayama.

Guests can also enjoy the hotel's subterranean wellness facility, which includes a 25m swimming pool, five treatment rooms, and a fitness centre featuring Technogym's Artis equipment line. The Chancery Rosewood introduces the Taktouk Clinic, a unique hotel clinic operated under Dr Wassim Taktouk's guidance within the Asaya Spa. The Taktouk Clinic offers tiered spa memberships that provide access to wellness facilities, complimentary treatments, and preferential clinic rates.

The Chancery Rosewood prides itself on personalised guest services, including flexible check-in and check-out times, house car transfers, and personal butler service for certain suites. Traditional front desk procedures have been eliminated at the hotel, with guests being greeted directly and escorted to their suites upon arrival.

Room rates for the Chancery Rosewood are available on application, while membership fees for spa facilities have not yet been disclosed. The iconic gilded eagle sculpture by Theodore Roszak, crafted from B-52 bomber aluminium, remains positioned overlooking Grosvenor Square.

The opening of the Chancery Rosewood represents significant adaptive reuse of a culturally important building, demonstrating how diplomatic architecture can transition to commercial hospitality while maintaining historical integrity. The Chancery Rosewood is set to become a landmark in the Mayfair area, offering a unique blend of luxury, art, and history.
