The city of Giessen recently welcomed 28 new trainees, dual students, and interns at a special event held at the University City of Giessen and the Middle Hesse Waterworks. Stefanie Kohler, the training manager, and representatives of the personnel department were also present at the occasion.
Mayor Frank-Tilo Becher, in his speech, emphasized the importance of young talent's contribution to society. He warmly welcomed the newcomers, stating that they bring fresh wind and new perspectives. The mayor reiterated the city's commitment to sustainable personnel development, securing young talent, and fostering a diverse, family-friendly administrative culture.
Currently, Giessen boasts over 70 young people in training. The 28 new individuals will start their careers in ten different training occupations and study directions, ranging from administration to environmental, technical, and craft areas. These include professions such as gardener, office clerk, salesperson/retail salesperson, warehouse logistics specialist, cook, mechatronics technician, industrial clerk, computer scientist (IT specialist), electrician for energy and building technology, and nurse/elderly care specialist.
The induction program for the newcomers spans a week and includes practical orientation, exchange, networking, and shared experiences. Training sessions, a meeting with the Youth and Apprentice Representation (JAV), a city rally, joint lunch breaks, and themed workshops are all part of this comprehensive program.
