The 8th Edit Essay Prize, a renowned literary competition, will take place in Leipzig from 16 to 25 October 2025. The festival, which is part of the 12th Festival Politik im Freien Theater, will be held at the wheelchair-accessible venue, Schauspiel Leipzig - Foyer 1.

The award ceremony for the prize will take place on Friday, 24.10. from 19:30-22:00, with Kais Harrabi moderating the event. Sandra Gugic, a distinguished figure in the literary world, will deliver a keynote speech during the ceremony.

The theme of this year's festival is "Boundaries". The awarded texts will be published in Edit °95, and the winners will receive a cash prize, a book publication, or a radio production.

The jury for the 8th Edit Essay Prize consists of Sandra Gugic, Kais Harrabi, Thorsten Jantschek, Georg Mellert, Anke Schleper, and Laura Weber. They will select the winners, who will be presented during the award ceremony.

The festival is in cooperation with Edit, Literary Autumn, ROTORBOOKS, Matthes & Seitz Berlin, Deutschlandfunk, and zoraLit. Attendees can drop by without the need for registration to witness the celebration of literary excellence.
