Construction on Kapaunenstraße to Impact Public Transport in Greifswald

Greifswald residents and visitors should be aware of upcoming changes to public transportation, as the city begins a network expansion project on Kapaunenstraße. The construction, which is set to start on August 25, 2025, and end on November 14, 2025, will involve the expansion of district heating and drinking water networks.

During this period, Kapaunenstraße will be fully closed in sections, with the construction site moving progressively. Passengers are advised to plan for delays due to the changes in traffic management.

Line 2 services will be affected significantly. In the direction of ZOB between 06:00 to 22:00, the Haltestellen Campus Loefflerstraße and Tierpark will not be served. Instead, local traffic, in the direction of ZOB, will run via the Haltestelle Rathaus, before and after via Goethestraße.

For those travelling from ZOB in the direction of Campus Loefflerstraße, lines 2 and 3 will be rerouted via Wollweberstraße into Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße. A detour to reach the station via Wollweberstraße is via Hansering - Goethestraße - Bahnhofstraße - Zentrum.

The one-way street in Wollweberstraße will be reversed, and extended in Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße up to Kapaunenstraße. Traffic coming from the station will be rerouted via Wollweberstraße to Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße. The changes in traffic management in Wollweberstraße and Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße (dead-end street) will remain in effect for the entire duration of the construction work.

Despite the disruptions, the heat and water supply in Kapaunenstraße will remain unaffected during the works. Parking spaces for residents will be available before and/or after the construction area. However, the construction measures may contribute to straining the already tense parking situation in the area.

For further information, residents and visitors can contact the mobility center at ZOB or call 03834 532424. The construction work is part of an ongoing network expansion project.

It is essential to plan ahead and be prepared for these changes to ensure a smooth journey during the construction period.
