Porsche 911 Turbo S Sets New Record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife

The Porsche 911 Turbo S has made a significant mark on the automotive world with its impressive performance on the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife. The new model, boasting active aerodynamics and a powerful hybrid powertrain, has shattered records, setting a new lap time of 7:03.92 minutes.

The new Turbo S is 14 seconds faster than its predecessor on the Nordschleife. Its sleek design, with features like an active front diffuser, a variable front spoiler lip, and a deployable and adjustable rear wing, plays a crucial role in its aerodynamic efficiency. In its most efficient position, the drag coefficient of the Turbo S is reduced by around ten percent compared to the predecessor, resulting in a value of just under 0.3.

The powertrain of the Turbo S is significantly different from the GTS, despite sharing some hybrid components. Each electric turbocharger in the Turbo S recovers 14 kW from the exhaust flow. The car produces 711 PS, a number intentionally chosen to reference the Stuttgart dialing code (0711).

The Turbo S is equipped with a sport exhaust system made of titanium as standard, and the eight-speed PDK has been strengthened to handle the 800 Newton meters of system torque. The car weighs 1,710 kilograms when fully fueled and including the driver.

The Turbo S is also packed with popular technical equipment, including a ceramic brake, anti-roll stabilization, PASM suspension, HD matrix headlights, and Sport Chrono package. The car's headlights combine all lighting functions in a single unit, creating space for vertical louvers that open or close depending on the cooling requirement.

The optional nose lift system in the Turbo S is controlled by the high-voltage battery, making it react faster than previous systems. The car's carbon-ceramic brake PCCB is the largest brake system of this kind ever fitted to a production 911.

In a remarkable feat, Jimmy Broadbent, a well-known British Sim-Racing specialist and Content Creator, set a new record for the Nürburgring-Nordschleife with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (Typ 992). Broadbent achieved a time of 7:03.92 minutes on June 5, 2023, driving a production car in the category.

It is important to note that the Absolute Track Record for the fastest lap on the Nordschleife (for any car, including racing cars) is held by Porsche with the 919 Hybrid Evo, with a time of 6:11.13 minutes. The record under serial Porsches was last significantly beaten by the 992er GT3 RS.

The first deliveries of the new Porsche 911 Turbo S are expected around the turn of the year 2025/2026. The Zuffenhausen-based company delivers the Turbo S without rear seats as standard, but they can be ordered without additional charge. The car's color "Turbonit" adorns window strips, crests, and lettering in an elegant dark anthracite.

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S has undoubtedly set a new standard in performance and design, making it a highly anticipated addition to the Porsche family.
