The lion-like creature revives its presence at Cammerspiel on the 4th of September
The stage adaptation of Johannes Herwig's novel, "Half Lion," is set to return to the Cammerspiele stage on September 4th. This revival, a youth theatre project by Cammerspiele and WERK 2, will be held at WERK 2 - Kulturfabrik/Halle D (Kochstraße 132, 04277 Leipzig).
Set in the early 90s, "Half Lion" delves into themes of friendship, love, family, responsibility, death, and suicide. The story revolves around the difficulty of taking responsibility for oneself and others in life, and the themes of love and empathy are also explored.
The adaptation, written by Swen Lasse Awe, is a joint project between WERK 2 - Kulturfabrik e. V. and Cammerspiele Leipzig. It is the third youth novel by Johannes Herwig to be adapted for the stage, following the successful runs of its predecessors.
In the story, Sascha, a student, meets with his friends in an abandoned house and devises dares. A new student joins Sascha's class, and he brings this new student to the meetings.
The revival of "Half Lion" will take place on Thursday, September 4th, at 7 pm and Friday, September 5th, at 10 am and 7 pm. This return to the Cammerspiele stage marks a significant moment for the production, having initially been performed previously.
Despite extensive online searches, the creator of the staged version of the novel remains unknown. Nevertheless, the anticipation for this revival remains high, as audiences look forward to experiencing the powerful exploration of responsibility and friendship once more.
