The MDR broadcasting council is set to present the Children's Audio Game Award for the seventeenth time.

The MDR Broadcasting Council is set to host the 17th Children's Radio Play Award in 2025, inviting submissions from young and talented authors across Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia.

The competition, which aims to uniquely convey the theme of human dignity to children and young people, is open to radio plays produced before 2024. All submissions will be evaluated by a selected Children's Jury, comprising boys and girls aged between eight and 15.

Interested children can apply for the Children's Jury until 30 September 2025. A good motivational letter can be an advantage during the selection process. The selected candidates will not only have the opportunity to evaluate the submissions but will also experience the award ceremony live on site.

The deadline for submission of radio plays is 31 October 2025. To avoid influencing the jury, information about authorship, direction, and production should be submitted separately from the contributions on the CDs. The radio plays should not exceed a length of 60 minutes.

The award is endowed with 6,000 euros and can be divided among a maximum of three contributions. The award ceremony will take place at the Leipzig Book Fair 2026, where the winners will be announced.

Further rules of the competition can be found here or requested from the MDR Gremienbüro. Applications for the Children's Jury and the radio plays should be sent to the following address: MIDDLE GERMAN BROADCASTING Gremienbüro, 04360 Leipzig, [email protected].

The jury for the competition will consist of members of the MDR Broadcasting Council and representatives from children's and youth theatre, media criticism, and interest representation for children and young people. Sandrina Sperlich is involved in the Children's Jury process.

The candidates for the children's jury of the MDR Audio Drama Award 2025 are students selected by MDR, although specific names and details are not publicly disclosed.

Finally, the award ceremony will take place at the Leipzig Book Fair 2026, marking another exciting year for the MDR Broadcasting Council's Children's Radio Play Award.
