The Netherlands is planning to invest €57 million to enhance the network of electric vehicle charging stations.

The Netherlands has announced the launch of a new scheme, the Subsidy Plan for Private Charging Infrastructure for Businesses (SPRILA), and the Subsidy Plan for Public Charging Infrastructure for Heavy Transport (SPULA). These schemes aim to support business owners in the construction of charging points for electric commercial vehicles.

Starting from Wednesday, 25th September at 9:00 a.m., business owners can begin preparing a draft SPULA application. The full application process for SPULA will open on Tuesday, 1st October at the same time. Both SPULA and SPRILA applications will be accepted until the end of 2024, with the deadline being 31st December 2024 at 12:00 PM.

Under SPRILA, business owners can receive a grant for the purchase and installation of charging points. Larger companies can be reimbursed up to 20% of the costs, while SMEs can be reimbursed up to 40%. The scheme focuses on private charging points on privately owned or leased properties.

In addition to SPRILA, there is an additional subsidy for battery storage. A total of 42 million euros is available for SPRILA in 2024, and 15 million euros is available for SPULA. This includes funding for consultancy services.

The application period for the SPRILA Purchase and Consultancy grants is open from Tuesday, 24th September at 9:00 a.m. until 31st December 2024 at 12:00 p.m. The text does not provide information on the reimbursement percentages for SPULA.

This new scheme is part of the Netherlands' efforts to promote the use of electric commercial vehicles and to provide infrastructure that supports their widespread adoption. Business owners are encouraged to take advantage of these grants and start preparing their applications as soon as possible.
