In the first seven months of this year, Kazakhstan has produced a total of 608,800 tons of meat, with 205,700 tons of that being beef. This significant output has been achieved despite a series of internal factors that have contributed to an increase in wholesale prices for live cattle.

The price rise can be attributed to the cancellation of subsidies for selective breeding, increased energy resource tariffs, higher feed, fuel, and veterinary drug costs, and rising wages in the agro-industrial complex. Moreover, the influence of intermediary links in the supply chain has also played a role in the price increase.

Despite these price increases, the current beef price remains profitable for producers, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. The demand for Kazakh beef on international markets continues to grow, with Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, and the UAE being the main destinations for exports.

As of the end of July, the cattle population stood at 8.7 million heads, including 4.5 million cows. This number includes a 17.9% increase in the number of calves, which now totals 2.7 million.

The growth in exports is also evident, with Kazakh beef exports increasing to 16,100 tons from January to June. However, there are no relevant search results specifying which national slaughterhouses in Kazakhstan export the largest quantities of beef to international markets.

Retail prices for beef vary depending on the region, with prices ranging from 3000 to 3700 tenge per kg. Despite the price increase, Kazakhstan's beef industry remains a significant contributor to the country's agricultural sector.

The Ministry of Agriculture reiterates its commitment to supporting the agro-industrial complex and ensuring the sustainability of the beef industry in Kazakhstan. The ministry continues to work towards improving the efficiency of the supply chain and reducing the influence of intermediaries to keep prices competitive and accessible to consumers.
