In the world of golf and comedy, two unlikely stars have collided on the streaming platform, Netflix. The sequel to the iconic Adam Sandler comedy "Happy Gilmore", titled "Happy Gilmore 2", has been making waves since its release on July 25.
The movie, which sees the return of the unconventional ice hockey player-turned-golfer, Happy Gilmore, features a host of cameos from some of the biggest names in golf over the past five years, with the exception of Tiger Woods. One such cameo is from professional golfer John Daly, who plays himself in a wacky and entertaining role as a sort of unorthodox uncle to the Gilmore family.
But the most intriguing cameo might just be that of professional golfer Will Zalatoris. Born in 1996, six months after the original "Happy Gilmore" was released, Zalatoris plays a character that bears an uncanny resemblance to Happy Gilmore's first caddy. In the sequel, Zalatoris' character plays with Happy as a member of the tour but struggles to shake off the trappings of their first golf course encounter. The comparison between Zalatoris and Happy's first caddy was one of the standout jokes in the movie.
Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1 golfer, also makes a cameo and pokes fun at himself regarding an arrest for a traffic violation. The movie serves as a platform for light-hearted banter among the golfing community, potentially marking a peace between PGA Tour stars and LIV golfers.
