The Year 2025's Highlight: Essential Details and Broadcasting Platforms for Viewing
The 2025 season of The Hundred, a fast-paced, limited-overs cricket tournament established by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), is set to commence on August 5. This exciting tournament, which features a mix of English players and international stars, will be widely accessible on the BBC network.
The competition comprises eight teams, each representing a UK city. The teams competing in the 2025 season are Birmingham Phoenix, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers, Oval Invincibles, Southern Brave, Trent Rockets, and Welsh Fire. Local partnerships have been established, with Birmingham Phoenix facing off against Trent Rockets, London Spirit battling Oval Invincibles, Manchester Originals squaring off against Northern Superchargers, and Southern Brave taking on Welsh Fire.
All games will be available for viewing on Sky Sports, while fans can listen to ball-by-ball audio commentary for all matches on BBC Sounds, and comprehensive coverage on BBC Radio 5 Live and 5 Sports Extra. Live text commentary and in-play video clips will be accessible during the Eliminator and final matches.
The group phase continues until August 28, with each team competing in eight matches - against six rival teams once and playing their local counterpart twice. The top team after the group stage will automatically qualify for the final. The second and third positions will vie for a place in the final on August 30 at The Kia Oval.
The fifth season of The Hundred will culminate on August 31, with the final match of both the men's and women's tournaments taking place at Lord's. The women's final will begin at 14:15 BST, followed by the men's final at 18:00 BST.
For those who prefer digital coverage, the BBC Sport website and app will feature live text coverage, match reports, and daily video highlights. The best match moments will be shared on the BBC Cricket Instagram account, and fans can get updates through the BBC Cricket WhatsApp channel.
Each team in the tournament bats for 100 balls to determine the match winner. Each bowler is limited to a maximum of 20 balls, delivered in sets of five or ten. The innings includes a 25-ball powerplay, where the fielding team may employ only two boundary fielders.
Cricket fans can look forward to an action-packed season of The Hundred, with all the excitement unfolding on the BBC network and Sky Sports. Don't miss out on the thrilling matches starting on August 5!
