Thronging approximately 2,500 attendees: Lüneburg county administration's open day deemed a resounding success.

The district of Lüneburg hosted its first Open House Day on September 6, 2025, drawing in approximately 2,500 visitors to the district administration. The event, organised by Dr. Ullrich Mansfeld from the press office, was a resounding success, with the information booths buzzing throughout the day as citizens engaged in conversations with staff.

The Open House Day was not a one-time event, as there will be more in the future. Visitors had the opportunity to delve into various topics, including animal welfare, environment, education, health, district politics, social services, and career opportunities. The event provided hands-on experiences, making it an interactive and engaging experience for all attendees.

One of the highlights of the day was the participation of the factions represented in the district council, who introduced themselves and their political work. Visitors also had the chance to take part in a variety of activities, such as building mini sewage treatment plants, testing cargo bikes, practising exiting a rescue window, and exploring the environmental impact of using a refurbished smartphone instead of a new one.

Children's and family activities were particularly popular, with young visitors enjoying the opportunity to learn about these topics in a fun and interactive way. The historic St. Michaelis Church and the Chapter Hall were also open to the public, offering a glimpse into Lüneburg's rich history.

District Administrator Jens Böther expressed his satisfaction with the turnout of the Open House Day, stating that it was a great opportunity for the citizens of Lüneburg to get a closer look at the workings of the district administration. While no specific date has been set for the next Open House Day, it is agreed that there will be another one.

Despite the lack of specific information about the next repetitions of the Open House Day at the Lüneburg District Office in the provided search results, it is clear that this event will continue to be a valuable resource for the community, fostering engagement and promoting transparency in local governance.
