Thunderous Cavalry Victory Over Forge FC with a Score of 4-1
In a thrilling clash at ATCO Field, Cavalry FC emerged victorious against Forge FC, with a commanding 4-1 scoreline.
The first half was dominated by Cavalry FC, who took an early lead in the 14th minute through Tobias Warschewski. The goal, a rebound from a shot by Warschewski, gave Cavalry FC a 1-0 advantage they would hold onto until halftime.
Cavalry FC's impressive performance saw them launch ten shots at the Forge FC net in the first half, demonstrating their attacking intent.
In the second half, Warschewski scored another goal, five minutes in, making it 2-0. Ali Musse followed suit, scoring a goal following a rebound from a shot by Warschewski, extending Cavalry FC's lead to 3-0.
Sergio Camargo added another goal for Cavalry FC, restoring the three-goal lead, making it 4-1. Forge FC responded with a goal from Nana Ampomah, reducing the deficit to 3-1, but it was too little, too late for the visitors.
The victory snapped Forge FC's 20-game unbeaten streak and solidified Cavalry FC's third-place standing in the western division.
Coach and manager of Cavalry FC, Tommy Wheeldon Jr., expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "We're unbeaten in four now, and we're starting our own run." He also highlighted the team's improved goal-scoring ability and defensive performance, saying, "What you need, as you get closer to that playoff run, first you've got to clinch the playoffs, so you'll put points on the board -- but the more goals we score, the more insurance we give ourselves. Then defensively, what I really liked today was our game management, seeing the game out."
Forge FC will look to bounce back from this defeat when they face Halifax in a Saturday afternoon home game, while Cavalry FC travel to York United FC for a Friday night road contest. The defeat was Forge FC's first visit to ATCO Field since the 2024 CPL championship game, a game which ended in a defeat by Cavalry FC.
