Time travel apparatus, Landshut, commences operation.
The Bavarian town of Landshut is set to unveil an innovative new digital project this fall, with the launch of the "Zeitmaschine Landshut" app. This groundbreaking app promises to take users on a captivating journey through 7000 years of regional history, from the Stone Age to the present day.
One of the app's most exciting features is the virtual tour of the town hall's grand hall, a significant historical sight in Landshut. During the tour, visitors can learn about the central figures of the impressive mural in both German and English. The time machine offers a unique opportunity to explore the mural in detail, with paintings coming to life and speaking as part of the experience.
But the app isn't just about history. It also incorporates elements of gamification, allowing users to collect points by solving quiz questions. There are also 3D objects to find in GPS search games within the app, adding an element of fun and engagement.
Long-gone buildings will be seen in 3D again in the app, offering a glimpse into Landshut's past. The app will also introduce users to video avatars, providing a personal touch to the historical narratives.
The "Zeitmaschine Landshut" app is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs under the program "Digitale Zukunft Bayern," and involves both the city and the district. The project is also supported by the Förderer association, which has made selfie recordings with actors from various generations available for users to create personal memory postcards.
Users can even take a selfie as a noble lady or knight with the bride and groom couples of the Landshuter Hochzeit performances since 1903, thanks to the time machine feature.
The app also includes virtual visits to the Stiftsbasilika St. Martin, with its 131-meter-high tower, and a stop in Altdorf for a Stone Age adventure. There's also a ceramics mystery in Vilsbiburg in the 19th century, and a look at the Landshuter Hochzeit as intangible cultural heritage in the present.
Visitors can choose to listen to the information during the virtual tour of the town hall's grand hall, and can even send the postcard directly via mobile phone. A panoramic view of Landshut can be seen from the tower on a clear day, including the Bernlochner complex, old town, new town, Landshuter Tor, city residence, monastery of Seligenthal, town hall, and two main streets.
The "Zeitmaschine Landshut" app is set to be a must-have for anyone interested in Landshut's rich history, and a fun and engaging way to explore the town's past and present. To learn more, visit the website at https://zeitmaschine.our website.
