Tonight's TV programming: featured highlights for Wednesday, August 20, encompassing Destination X premiere
Destination X, a new mystery tour series, kicks off on BBC1 at 9 pm tonight. Host Rob Brydon sets a unique challenge for contestants, testing their memory, reflexes, and loyalty. The contestants are on a bus instead of a castle, adding an unexpected twist to the game.
Meanwhile, over on ITV1, The Fortune Hotel premieres at the same time. This show follows stressed-out hotel residents in the Caribbean, with host Stephen Mangan welcoming guests at the pool for a Hotel Game tonight. The real drama unfolds with an intense Day Trip Challenge involving building the tallest tower from cans found on the beach.
For those who prefer a thriller, "The Darkness" is a six-part English-language drama series currently streaming on Channel 4. Based on Ragnar Jónasson's novel and directed by Oscar nominee Lasse Hallström, the series follows volunteer magistrate Claire Lewis Jones (Erin Richards) whose teenage daughter's friend faces arson charges. The series initially started in a wholesome Race Across the World style but has taken on a Traitors edge.
In a separate storyline, Lena Olin plays Hulda Hermannsdóttir, an Icelandic detective inspector working in Reykjavík. Hulda picks up a cold (quite literally) case involving the discovery of a woman's frozen body in a glacier. Unfortunately, Hulda is about to be forced into early retirement.
Another series, Mudtown, a six-part thriller, is airing on U&Aligi at 9 pm. The series was previously shown in Welsh on S4C and BBC iPlayer.
Lastly, The six-part English-language drama series "The Darkness" currently has no available streaming or TV broadcast and is not being shown on any platform at the moment. There are no streams or TV airings announced yet for this series.
