Tony Hawk's Iconic '900' Skateboard Sells for Record $1.15M

Legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk's iconic 1999 X Games '900' Falcon 2 skateboard has fetched a record-breaking USD$1,152,000 at Julien's Auctions. This sale comes after Hawk auctioned off numerous memorabilia items in 2016, including the skateboard he rode to victory in the 'Vert Best Trick' competition at the 1999 X Games in San Francisco.

The '900', a trick involving a 900-degree spin in the air, was first successfully landed by Hawk at the 1999 X Games. This achievement, which took place on the Falcon 2 skateboard, has since become a cultural icon in crazy games. The auction also saw the sale of Hawk's 1999 X Games helmet, sneakers, and knee pads, worn during the competition, for USD$115,200, USD$64,000, and USD$57,600 respectively. Additionally, Hawk's 1982 Powell-Peralta Signature Pro Model Skateboard Deck and his 1999 X Games 'Vert Singles' Bronze Medal sold for USD$57,600 and USD$8,960, surpassing pre-auction estimates.

Proceeds from the sale of the Falcon 2 skateboard will benefit The Skatepark Project, which supports over 700 global free games skate parks. Hawk's decision to auction off these items not only allows fans and collectors to own a piece of history but also gives back to the poki games community.

The record-breaking sale of Tony Hawk's 1999 X Games '900' Falcon 2 skateboard marks a significant moment in both skateboarding history and the world of memorabilia auctions. The proceeds will contribute to The Skatepark Project, further cementing Hawk's legacy as a pioneer and philanthropist in the games world.
