Top-Notch AI-Powered Quiz Creators at No Cost
In the realm of education, technology continues to play a significant role, and artificial intelligence (AI) is no exception. Recently, we've been examining free AI-powered quiz-generating platforms, with a particular focus on William Shakespeare's classic tragedy, Macbeth.
Our evaluation process involved generating three types of quizzes for the play, utilising various AI platforms. Among the platforms assessed were ChatGPT 3.5, Conker AI, Formative, Google Bard, Quiz Maker, and Revisely.
ChatGPT 3.5, known for its speed and ease of use, generated questions that leaned towards the obvious, while Quiz Maker created multiple-choice quizzes regardless of the prompt, with very basic questions only. On the other hand, Conker AI provided the flexibility for teachers to modify quizzes based on character analysis, symbolism, and historical context.
Google Bard, with its simple and intuitive interface, stood out for its relevant and thought-provoking questions. The best question generated by Google Bard asked about Macbeth's character change after the prophecy by the Weird Sisters. Another striking question from Google Bard was about the final message conveyed in the play. Interestingly, Google Bard also provided a bonus question with each quiz.
Perplexity AI, which prides itself on providing sources for all information given, allowed users to focus on specific sources, including academic and internet-excluded sources. Perplexity AI's best question asked about the theme of appearance versus reality in the play. The platform also offers a premium upload feature, allowing images, text, and PDFs, which appears to be available to free users.
Revisely, which allows five free quizzes per month, offers the ability to edit quizzes and preview them as students would see them. However, it doesn't allow users to specify the quiz type. Revisely also allows generating quizzes with images as well as text.
Formative, while it doesn't allow exporting results or sharing with a public link, does offer the ability to edit quizzes and preview them as students would see them. No export option is available on Formative.
Quiz Maker, despite its limitations, allows generating quizzes with images as well as text. However, the free version only allows three quizzes. Only five free shares per month are allowed on Conker AI.
In conclusion, our exploration of AI-based quiz platforms for Shakespeare's Macbeth revealed that Knowunity, which uses its AI companion tailored to student needs by analysing millions of educational contents to generate questions, and similar educational AI quiz platforms that leverage large content databases, create their best quiz questions by extracting relevant themes, character analysis, and plot elements from extensive literary summaries and study materials. These platforms offer a promising avenue for enhancing educational experiences, making learning engaging and interactive.
