New Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Arrives in New Zealand
Jeep NZ has announced the addition of a new model to its lineup, the Wrangler Rubicon. Sarah Williams, the head of marketing for Jeep NZ, made a statement about the new vehicle.
The Wrangler Rubicon is part of the Jeep's New Zealand lineup and comes with a unique feature - the TrailCam off-road camera. This camera is designed to help navigate challenging terrain, making the Rubicon an ideal choice for off-road adventures.
The Wrangler Rubicon is equipped with a turbo-petrol 4-cylinder engine, the same as the standard Wrangler, producing 200kW/400Nm of power and torque. However, the Rubicon is marketed as a more hard-core 4x4 model compared to the Overland, with a starting price of $104,990, a $20,000 premium over the Wrangler Overland, which starts at $84,990.
The Rubicon's upgraded 4x4 specification includes a "Rock-Trac" transmission, known for its 4:1 low gear ratio and a crawl ratio of 77.2:1. This transmission, along with the four skid plates for added protection and the next-gen HD Dana 44 Full-Float Rear Axle, improves weight distribution and supports aftermarket tyre upgrades.
The next-gen HD Dana 44 Full-Float Rear Axle is a significant feature of the Wrangler Rubicon. This axle, part of the vehicle's heavy-duty 4x4 specification, improves the Wrangler Rubicon's off-road capabilities, making it suitable for tackling mountain passes and coastal adventures.
The Rubicon model also includes a 2-speed transfer case, further enhancing its off-road performance. The Wrangler Rubicon embodies the "go anywhere, do anything" ethos of the Jeep brand, offering a vehicle that is as capable off-road as it is on.
With the introduction of the Wrangler Rubicon, Jeep NZ has added a new variant of the Wrangler with a 2.0-litre turbo engine to its New Zealand offer.
