Mayor Juan Antonio Lara has been dealing with frequent issues related to water pipes since taking office in 2023. Despite ongoing issues and previous incidents of explosive geyser-like bursts and sewage leaks, the council is taking steps to address water scarcity and encourage conservation.
The main goal of the new regulation is to prepare Benalmadena for potential future drought episodes. The council has learned from past experiences and has proactively created a legal framework to address water scarcity swiftly.
One of the key measures in the new regulation is the encouragement of the use of alternative water sources for non-potable purposes like irrigating green spaces and cleaning streets.
