Traffic blockage on BAB 24 en route to Berlin due to a severe road accident in the vicinity of the Neustadt-Glewe intersection, prompting a complete shutdown.

A serious traffic accident occurred on the BAB 24 towards Berlin at approximately 9:10 AM today, causing extensive damage to several vehicles involved.

The incident took place in the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim, specifically on the BAB 24. The accident involved a Mercedes Sprinter with a trailer that collided with a stationary breakdown vehicle (car and caravan).

Due to the impact, the Mercedes spun around, causing its trailer to detach and overturn. Fortunately, both the driver who caused the accident, aged 45, and the 69-year-old owner of the breakdown vehicle only sustained minor injuries.

The exact cause of the accident is still unknown, but it appears that for some reason, the Mercedes ended up too far to the right on the hard shoulder behind the Neustadt-Glewe interchange.

The Police Headquarters Rostock is handling the incident, and further information can be obtained from Florian Mueller, who can be reached at 03843 266-302 or via email at [email protected]. For more general information, visit the Police Headquarters Rostock's website at http://www.polizei.mvnet.de.

Unfortunately, the details on the material damage are still not available, and ongoing traffic restrictions are in effect on the BAB 24. The BAB 24 remains fully closed from the Neustadt-Glewe interchange due to extensive recovery and towing measures.

We advise motorists to avoid the area and seek alternative routes if possible. The Police Headquarters Rostock will provide updates as more information becomes available.
