Traffic collision on A31 highway results in 10 casualties
The Bottrop Fire Department was called to a traffic accident on the A31 at 18:20, where two cars collided, one of which overturned and ended up on its roof. The accident resulted in ten injuries, one of them serious.
Upon arrival, approximately 40 personnel from the professional fire brigade and the voluntary fire brigade Kirchhellen worked diligently to extricate the injured individuals from the vehicles. The fire department called for the "mass casualty incident" protocol to ensure an efficient response to the situation.
During the operation, rescue resources from Oberhausen, Dorsten, and Gladbeck were requested to assist the Bottrop crews. The voluntary fire brigade Altstadt provided cover for the rest of the city during this time.
The A31 in the direction of Bottrop was fully closed during the operation, causing significant traffic disruptions. After initial treatment, the injured individuals were transported to various nearby hospitals for further care.
