Traffic disruptions and delays on Crimean Bridge on August 20, 2025, resulting in heavy congestion.
In a bid to ensure safety and maintain order on the roads, authorities have stepped up traffic inspections along the A-290 and the Kerch Strait transport crossing.
The inspection process is meticulous, involving several stages to verify compliance with traffic rules and security regulations. Automated scanning using special equipment is one of the methods employed, providing a swift and efficient means of checking vehicles.
Upon approaching the checkpoint, drivers are required to present their identification documents for verification. This step is crucial in establishing the driver's identity and ensuring that only authorised individuals are granted passage.
Detailed manual inspections of vehicles also form part of the process. During these inspections, passengers may be asked to move their belongings to a specially equipped room. Security personnel may request access to the trunk and inspect the interior of the vehicle to ensure no unauthorised items are concealed.
In addition to verifying the driver's identity and inspecting the vehicle, all passengers are also identified as part of the process. This measure is designed to maintain a high level of security and accountability.
Inspecting luggage and personal belongings is another essential aspect of the inspection process. This step is crucial in detecting any prohibited items that may pose a threat to safety.
The inspections, which take approximately 6 minutes for passenger cars and up to 15 minutes for buses, are being conducted around the clock to counter attempts to violate traffic rules and unauthorised bypasses along the roadside.
Elsewhere, disruptions to road traffic are being experienced in Germany due to ongoing construction works. As of August 20, 2025, the A42 at the Oberhausen-Zentrum junction towards Dortmund is closed for car traffic until approximately September 29, 2025, requiring detours through the city of Oberhausen. Additionally, the A45 near Lüdenscheid remains closed due to a bridge construction for five years.
Law enforcement officers are also conducting thorough monitoring of traffic conditions around the Kerch Strait transport crossing. All other access routes to the ferry are temporarily closed to road traffic, with the only permitted route for vehicle traffic being the federal highway A-290.
These measures aim to ensure the safety and security of all road users, while minimising disruptions caused by construction works and maintaining the integrity of traffic regulations.
